Ductwork: A Comprehensive Guide to Efficient Airflow

hvac duct design example

The perimeter loop system, also known as the loop system or loop-de-loop system, is commonly used in multi-story buildings. In this layout, a main duct loop runs along the perimeter of each floor, with shorter ducts branching off to supply air to individual rooms or zones. By looping the ducts, this system provides a more balanced airflow throughout each floor and minimizes the length of the duct runs. The radial duct system, also known as the star system or spider system, is one of the most straightforward and commonly used duct layouts. In this system, a main duct runs from the HVAC unit, branching out to individual ducts that supply air to different rooms or zones.

Poor design or lack of system sealing can produce inadequate airflow rates at the terminals, leading to discomfort, loss of productivity, and even adverse health effects. These technologies, such as aerosol-based sealing, provide more effective methods for ensuring airtight duct systems. This aspect of ductwork design is crucial for reducing air leakage and enhancing overall system efficiency. Demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) is an advanced ductwork design strategy that adjusts ventilation rates based on occupancy or air quality indicators. Implementing DCV in ductwork design ensures that the right amount of fresh air is provided, improving indoor air quality while conserving energy. Aerodynamic fittings are another important feature in advanced ductwork design.

Essential Role of Ductwork Design in HVAC Systems

Additionally, HVAC professionals should consider the sealing and insulation of the ductwork to prevent air leakage and minimize thermal losses. Proper sealing of duct joints and connections, along with the use of insulation materials with high R-values, can significantly improve the energy efficiency of the system. There are various methods and formulas used to calculate the duct sizes, depending on the specific requirements of the HVAC system.

Ductwork Sealing and Insulation Inspection

Regular maintenance and proper sealing techniques are crucial to prevent leakage and maintain system efficiency. If conditioned air is leaking, at least it will leak into an area that’s supposed to receive heated or cooled air. Conditioned air traveling through the ducts won’t lose heat energy to cold air outside (or by warm air diluting cool air inside the ductwork in the summer). When ductwork has to run through unconditioned areas, it should be well-sealed and insulated.

HVAC Ductwork Design: Maximizing Efficiency and Comfort

This is vitally important, something we’ll belabor a bit, because ducts that are too small or narrow will wreck efficiency and make the system work too hard, leading to early mechanical failure. Your source of knowledge about the world of building science, home energy efficiency, green jobs and more. In our HVAC design business at Energy Vanguard, we generally don’t specify ducts smaller than 4″. We do round ducts in one inch increments from 4″ to 10″ and then every 2″ after that, which is why I said we’d use a 12″ instead of a 10″ duct for a return in that example.

The goal of duct design is an air distribution system without objectionable noise and minimum life-cycle cost (LCC). Noise can be controlled by limiting the duct velocity to the values listed in Table 12. Use this velocity to size the first duct section either upstream or downstream from the fan for all duct design methods.

Online Tools for Designing Ductwork Systems

Zoning systems in ductwork design allow for different areas of a building to be heated or cooled independently. This advanced ductwork design feature improves comfort and efficiency by providing customized temperature control in different zones. Maintaining the correct airflow and velocity is essential for efficient operation. Airflow (measured in cubic feet per minute, or CFM) needs to be sufficient to meet the heating and cooling demands of each room. The velocity of the air should be high enough to ensure efficient distribution but not so high that it creates noise or drafts. This section will focus on the relationship between ductwork design and energy consumption, highlighting methods to minimize energy losses, improve system efficiency, and reduce utility costs.

What is the R-value for ductwork insulation?

By constantly adapting to the changing needs of the building, VAV systems ensure consistent comfort and energy efficiency. Additionally, it is crucial to account for potential airflow imbalances that may occur due to factors such as longer duct runs or restrictive fittings. By incorporating dampers, balancing valves, or variable air volume (VAV) systems, HVAC professionals can adjust the airflow to individual rooms or zones, ensuring a balanced and efficient system. There are various types of duct systems commonly used in HVAC installations. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice depends on factors such as the building’s layout, space constraints, and specific requirements.

hvac duct design example

The number 5 indicates that the fitting is a junction, and 1 is its sequential number. The R indicates that the fitting is Rectangular, and the 3 identifies the fitting as an elbow. Dynamic loss is based on the actual velocity in the duct, not the velocity in an equivalent circular duct. For the cross section to reference a fitting loss coefficient, see step 5 in the section on HVAC Duct Design Procedures.

Insulation applied to ducts minimizes heat loss or gain as air travels through the system, significantly improving energy efficiency. Proper insulation can lead to substantial savings on heating and cooling costs while ensuring that living spaces reach and maintain desired temperatures more effectively. For example, metal ducts, known for their durability and resistance to mold, are a common choice for long-term use.

Additionally, it helps in removing stale air, allergens, and pollutants, promoting better indoor air quality. Effective ductwork design is essential for balanced HVAC airflow, ensuring even distribution of conditioned air, maintaining uniform temperatures, and preventing HVAC system strain. Optimal ducts eliminate hot and cold spots, enabling consistent comfort throughout a building, thereby increasing occupant satisfaction. Moreover, well-designed ductwork enhances indoor air quality by filtering and circulating air efficiently, reducing dust and contaminant buildup.

Entries and converging junctions are only in the exhaust/return portion of systems. Equal-area elbows, obstructions, and duct-mounted equipment are common to both supply and exhaust systems. Transitions and unequal-area elbows can be either supply or exhaust fittings.

By carefully selecting the appropriate sealant, HVAC professionals and homeowners can ensure the integrity of ductwork, optimize system performance, and maintain comfortable indoor environments. In spaces where height is limited, low profile ductwork or oval ductwork can be a game-changer. These options provide the necessary airflow in tight spaces without sacrificing system efficiency.

We do not encourage or condone the use of this program if it is in violation of these laws. Archimedes works on GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Windows and it only requires you have a Java Virtual Machine installed which is also a free software. This means that anything generated with Archimedes is easily recoverable and reused. NanoCAD is available for free as part of a 30-day trial, during which you can check out various modules, including the Mechanica 2D sketches.

You would never imagine how the most important video game of the decade was created

QCAD is an open-source application designed for CAD in two dimensions and lets you create technical drawings like building plans, mechanical parts, interiors, and diagrams. Beginners will start modeling much faster in SketchUp and they will be able even to make animations. Meanwhile, beginners will have to spend more time learning AutoCAD’s commands and user interface. One of the excellent features that you’ll find in FreeCAD is their utilization of workbenches. Workbenches are tools, organized by the tasks that they are related to. It adds a level of nimbleness to the program that I promise you will be grateful for.

NanoCAD offers essential CAD features for free, with the option of purchasing a premium package for advanced features including a robust table editor. NanoCAD may not be appropriate for organizations with very limited budgets as it does require a powerful machine for rendering designs. The free versions of these software solutions with some basic additions are in trend these days. They allow the users to run these versions on their browser without even downloading the software.

There are free versions available for schools and a free learning version. Blender is a free and open-source tool, but it would be a disservice to this mighty software to call it just a CAD program. Great for those who aren’t bothered with mastering modeling but want the benefits of printing. Slash shakes things up by instead using a Minecraft-esque building block-styled modeling.

And that will hurt sales in the future when those students become graduates and professionals. In addition, from an advanced user’s perspective, its ability to be implemented into an app through Python modules makes it quite useful. Additional features of FreeCAD include the Robot Simulation module that helps you study the movement of robots, a rendering module for exporting your project into external renderers, and more. To sum up, if you are looking for free CAD software for beginners, then FreeCAD is an excellent choice. I would say, even professionals can use it given the tools and features it packs. Maya also uses Arnold for rendering, allowing for the rendering of complex models such as characters, scenery and lighting.

Further, it's customizable and is available on multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, and several Linux distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora. FreeCAD is a serious open source offering that supports parametric 3D modeling, which means you can modify your design by going back into your model history and changing its parameters. The target market is mostly mechanical engineers and product designers, but it's got a lot of functionality and power that anyone would find attractive. NanoCAD is a free-to-use CAD software with both 2D and 3D design functionality. NanoCAD has an easy-to-use interface combined with complex options that allow power users to get the most of the software.

Understanding The Fundamental Pillars Of Game Design

design pillars

Everything in their games feeds back into this system of relationships, rather than diverging off into minigames or alternative game modes. Paradox Games are typically city builder games with tight system integration (admittedly not my genre, but I can see the appeal). Part of this might be due to the way our fan communities work, but directors do seem to have a strong influence on their respective games.

Pillar 8 - Client experience

At its heart, business design enables more efficient working, less mistakes and a stronger sense of motivation. On the flipside, a business without a strategic design in place may find staff overworked and overwhelmed. Major decision anxiety and a lack of clarity, purpose and direction will often find themselves high on the agenda.

On a more micro level, this may include unlocking loot boxes or practicing minimizing recoil on an assault weapon in order to maximize accuracy. Halo showcases different kinds of enemies, each with a very distinctive look and consistent behavior. This allows the player to quickly identify a type of enemy, learn its move and attack patterns, and create tactics around it. DOOM was originally made in 1993 providing an experience revolving around movement, extreme violence, and lots of combat options. 23 years later, they deliver the exact same experience in today’s technology standards.

Design Principles to Make Your Business Transformation Successful

You've built a motif and regained control of your design if three things are in blue italic sans-serif. Allow your brain to organize the data before laying up your design in a way that conveys that order. If the band's name is the most crucial information, put it in the middle or make it the poster's main attraction.

When should your business start thinking about business design?

' If you're a new entrepreneur or designer, you might be tempted to go all out and combine the first five typefaces and colors that strike your eye to produce something unique. So you understand the fundamentals of game design, but where do you go from here? Here are some ideas that will help further boost your game design knowledge with skills you can apply to your games.

Our capabilities allow us to handle every aspect of your job from design, to engineering and manufacturing. Our success is built on innovation, quality, product flexibility, service and teamwork. You should view the elements of design as many moving parts that are combined to successfully tell a narrative.

What are the 8 pillars of business design?

Let me walk you through some examples and it should become clear. While learning how to use the principles of design can go a long way in helping you create successful graphics, they should by no means be seen as rules, but rather, as guidelines. After all, some of the most effective and memorable designs have deliberately ignored or broken some of these design principle recommendations.

While Obsidian is now part of Microsoft, it used to be a contractor - constantly vulnerable to the changing whims of the publishers it worked with. Sawyer devoted huge chunks of his career to promising games that were abruptly shut down, like an Aliens RPG. He lost 40 colleagues to the “very, very awful” layoffs in the wake of the doomed Xbox One exclusive Stormlands. Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence - The Right Way Forward for Data Science

However, Game Pillars are something each developer must make for their game, while the guide is my research compiled into simple dos and don’ts of game design. Hopefully this post gave you some ideas about how to create and use design pillars. When used effectively they will save a ton of time by allowing for quicker decision making and reigning in the scope of a project. For practice, take a look at some of your favorite games and try to determine what their design pillars might be. I've attempted to create more full fledged design documents while working on small team projects. These documents tend to fall out of date remarkably quickly and never manage to account for every future decision.

While the game wasn’t quite what I hoped for, it turns out, speaking very generally, the more options for meaningful interaction the player is given, the more they will enjoy their experience. This 13 principles are specific and straight to the point, something to always have in mind when deciding how each feature will be implemented into the game and how it will relate with others already present. In a conversation with my husband not long ago — who happens to be a designer and in the game industry himself — he mentioned the concept of “pillars” in a game or a product . There are usually two or three pillars that a project rests on, and everything that everyone does in the development of that project should be in support of those pillars. Crysis Warhead had a holistic view of all the mechanics they created.

It’s a process that has to revolve wholeheartedly around your unique business. Our final pillar is one that's a little harder for me to give a snappy single word title. I've settled on "friendly" for the purposes of this post, but the word has bounced around from related words like "fun" and "whimsy" in the past. Additionally, the only thing you ever do to interact with Wildfire Swap is click. You don't need to learn hot keys (though we do want to add undo and reset hotkeys so you can experiment faster) or work your way through dialog trees. Outcomes and Feedback tie both into serious and/or educational games, as well as game games for entertainment.

This pillar is all about how the people within your company are organised. Your strategy will also act as the catalyst for the rest of your business design. This matters, because without an overarching understanding of your business, you will struggle to embrace clarity, purpose and direction. Time and time again, you will find yourself blocked, unable to take the next step to scale your business.

In other words, knowing what experience you want for the player, and making sure that all design choices encourage that experience is important. When starting out a new game, you don’t want to go overboard thinking of all the new things you can implement and then overwhelm yourself eventually. Having a core mechanic in your game means you can focus all of your attention on a single system that you can refine and iterate upon. It can make game development much easier, and expanding from the core mechanic is definitely something you should have in mind. Some of the ways that we try to deliver on this core pillar are fairly typical of most games.

Before you begin any design project, you should familiarise yourself with these design concepts. Only then will you be able to defy these graphic design conventions and develop your unique style. As mentioned at the beginning, game design is an entire field of study – and we’ve only scratched the surface of how deep this topic can go.

Perhaps the non-native species serves similar functions to the native and can replace these functions if it increases in abundance in places where the native is rare [60]. However, numerous negative impacts must also be considered [54]. Gigas has a generally similar distribution and abundance to O.

Become a Habitat Steward With This Training Program Through the National…

We used relatively new ArcGIS Pro tools including Distance Accumulation (to generate polygons encompassing local larval networks) and Optimal Region Connections (to calculate connectivity among them). The resulting analysis revealed stark contrasts in network size and connectivity among regions. These are critical findings, given the importance of metapopulation dynamics for oysters [68] and other species. We recommend broader adoption of such spatial analysis approaches to spatial ecology analyses to support network connectivity analyses that can be critical for conservation [69–71].

Guidance Through the Immigration Process With Seifert Law in Olympia

From 1990–2020, the number of records of oysters increased in most regions, though less so in Canada where regular monitoring led to consistently high relative numbers of records. The number of estuaries with the species documented as present increased from 11 pre-2000 to 63 post-2000 (Fig 6). This increase was partly due to previously unsurveyed estuaries being surveyed, but also due to increased presences in places where it was formerly absent.

In the future, the spatial dynamics of this species could be explored through further analysis using our data, as well as data and tools produced by other entities. For example, our analysis of larval networks examined only the potential likely larval travel distance using tools available in ArcGIS Pro 2.7, and did not model the impacts of ocean currents, temperature, salinity, or other factors that are likely key drivers. In the past decade, there has been a proliferation of what is often called “community science;” the crowd-sourced data that have been collected through such efforts has been widely analyzed by scientists, especially for terrestrial vertebrates [74, 75]. A comprehensive review of monitoring in Europe suggested volunteer monitoring can yield excellent assessments of biodiversity, so long as the spatial/temporal sampling frequency is high and protocols are robust [75]. This type of model has rarely been used for marine systems and habitat-forming species.

Satellites, one in Culver City’s Citizen Public Market food hall, and another popping up on Sundays at Smorgasburg. At one time, you only ate oysters in months that ended with R. These days you’re eating them from a Japanese-accented Sinaloan mariscos truck in a parking lot on La Brea, knocking back a legion of Kumamotos topped with two fingers of ponzu, cucumber, chile chiltepin, and flying fish roe.

Spatial analyses

To conserve coastal foundation species, it is essential to understand patterns of distribution and abundance and how they change over time. We synthesized oyster distribution data across the west coast of North America to develop conservation strategies for the native Olympia oyster (Ostrea lurida), and to characterize populations of the non-native Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas). We designed a user-friendly portal for data entry into ArcGIS Online and collected oyster records from unpublished data submitted by oyster experts and from the published literature.

S2 File. Instructions participants were provided for the ArcGIS online portal.

There’s just something about a restaurant with a long history that has stood the test of time that makes us appreciate it here in Washington, especially after all the industry struggles in recent years. And when said restaurant happens to have delicious food, it’s even more appealing. This elegant Silver Lake oyster house is always astonishing, with fresh oysters flown in daily from across the nation, as well as composed dishes like moules frites and crab linguine in lobster chablisienne. In fact, we once saw Eric Garcetti here.

Lurida distributions were completed at a local or regional scale. For example, there was an early survey for oysters throughout California as a cooperative agreement between the California Division of Fish and Game and U.S. Bureau of Fisheries to investigate the potential for aquaculture [17]. Once the species had already suffered substantial declines, decades passed before additional regional and local surveys were conducted in British Columbia [18] and southern California [19]. To evaluate differences among Canada, Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California, and Mexico, we drafted box plots and conducted a Kruskal-Wallis test for the Distribution and Abundance Index of each species, using data from post-2000.

They demonstrated that the network size defined by this metric correlated significantly with stability in recruitment (i.e., larger networks had less recruitment failure). For both species, we thus considered sites with living adult oysters observed between 2000–2020 and within 30 km of each other to be part of the same larval network. Conserving foundation species requires knowledge about where they currently exist and where they once existed.

We conclude that partnerships between community scientists and monitoring organizations can yield rich datasets [77]. Community science can contribute to spatial ecology and conservation, even of less charismatic groups like invertebrates [78]. Our assessment of spatial and temporal dynamics of a native and a non-native oyster on the west coast of North America can serve as a model for spatial ecology of other marine foundation species whose distribution is poorly known.

Lurida that was our focus and the non-native M. Abundance, network size and connectivity peaked in the same regions for both species. This makes clear that any conservation planning for the native species must proceed with consideration of the non-native one.

Spatial analyses

Adult network size could not be calculated for the northern estuaries since no geospatial layer of estuarine boundaries was available. We used the larval network as replicate for this analysis, which involved fairly limited sample sizes. Lurida, there were 6, 6, and 2 networks for the North, Central, and South, respectively; for M. Gigas spread, it is striking that most of the records of its presence were from unpublished records and iNaturalist (84% of records compared to 44% for O. lurida).

In Willapa Bay, Washington, only two records were included in the review before 2000 and, because M. Gigas was documented as absent in both, recent establishment might be concluded, but other evidence supports populations throughout the southern and eastern arms of the bay since 1936 [41]. Repeat surveys did not detect any loss from an estuary where the species was previously reported.

Chef Gilberto Cetina Jr. is the first-generation prodigal son of the legendary family behind Chichen Itza. To say that he has a passion for quality mariscos is an understatement. Holbox's refined mariscos take inspiration from the beautiful eponymous island located in Yucatán’s neighboring state of Quintana Roo, only with the benefit of the having Baja, Mexico's seafood capital, just three hours away. The oyster selection is always rotating, and not to sound like a broken record, but L.A. TACO members get two free oysters when they purchase any meal. The sign on Levy’s pushcart advertised California oyster cocktails.

For the purposes of sharing these data publicly, however, we removed the coordinates of those records from our database and removed the records entirely from the Portal (though they were used to generate the networks described below). PSRF began the Olympia oyster Recruitment Monitoring program in 2014. It has expanded every year since thanks to many partners.

We performed basic spatial analyses (e.g., size, centroid) on estuaries and ecosections. We performed a Spatial Join of all oyster records to country, state/province, and estuary/ecosection. The analysis was conducted separately for each oyster species.

Canada, Washington, and Southern California comprised 71% of O. Gigas presence records, whereas Mexico comprised just 1% of total records for both species (Fig 4). We generated “networks” that encompassed groups of sites with adult oysters present, which might plausibly be linked through larval dispersal (see Fig 2 for example). Lurida larvae can successfully recruit after traveling as far as 75 km if currents are favorable [31], but 30 km was used as a limit to dispersal by Wasson et al. [32].

We determined which data would be readily feasible to collect (including from historical sources and from experts providing personal records) and designed an interactive data collection tool using ArcGIS Online® by Esri®. We solicited feedback from about a dozen NOOC members on the draft data entry protocols and adapted the protocols based on responses. We then invited NOOC experts from British Columbia to Baja California to participate and provided training on how to enter data correctly into the Portal. Collaborators included academics and staff from federal, state, and local resource management agencies and non-governmental organizations, all of whom possess extensive knowledge about O.

Chill the sauce in the refrigerator while you shuck the oysters. In 1941 Al Levy was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery with a Jewish service at the Wee Kirk o’ the Heather. That year there were 30 times as many people living in Los Angeles as when he’d arrived half a century before. The oyster cocktail king had fed four generations of them. With the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, Levy announced he would once again use wine in cooking at both his restaurants.

We used the resulting 2,000+ records to examine spatial and temporal patterns and made an interactive web-based map publicly available. Comparing records from pre-2000 vs. post-2000, we found that O. Lurida significantly decreased in abundance and distribution, while M. Currently the distribution and abundance of the two species are fairly similar, despite one species being endemic to this region since the Pleistocene, and the other a new introduction. We mapped the networks of sites occupied by oysters based on estimates of larval dispersal distance, and found that these networks were larger in Canada, Washington, and southern California than in other regions.

The nails have classy french tips but are done in botanical nail art. The nude nails are elegant and the small pearls make it even more adorable. Unconventional color pairings like cobalt blue, bubblegum pink, silver, and white keep short nails anything but boring. A dreamy watercolor effect graces these nails, with soft washes of peach and blue merging with delicate gold line accents and rhinestones. The gentle blending of colors gives off a whimsical and artistic vibe. So go ahead and play this up even more by pairing your white nails with nude nails that flaunt a fun snowscape on your nails with matching marching penguin nail art.

Long and Lovely

It is a gorgeous color combination and the nails are glitzy and easy to wear. This look was created with Essie Summit Of Style and Tuck It In My Tux. For an even more exciting look, make the halfway lines asymmetrical. One of the great things about having shorter nails is playing with delicate artwork that could otherwise get lost on longer lengths. Embrace the trend for microfine designs and opt for suitably summery motifs like wispy floral garlands and evil eyes. If you like your nail shape natural or even slightly squared off at the top, then there’s even more scope to use the free edge as part of your design.

If subtlety is the name of your game, try this creamy neutral shade with a small butterfly design. Have a party on your toes with jeweled flowers creating a pretty accent on the large toes. If you're not into picking just one color, try this colorful and sophisticated abstract design for a whimsical pattern that still feels light and airy. Nail art gives you the freedom of self-expression, allowing you to play with different hues, nail lengths, and embellishments to make a dull outfit look downright fabulous. Welcome to Inspired Beauty, one of the best fashion, beauty and decor resource for daily inspiration.

Short White Nail ideas

"The brighter the better for summer!" Escobar and Geer says. "Pairing neon colors with a nude to match your skin tone or touches of black will make the colors look even brighter." It takes the classic black and white to a fun level. For this look we have a few different designs and most of them have an Aztec print. It is a such a cool idea and you can buy stencils online with similar patterns so you can try the look yourself. This design was created with Essence White Polish, Liquitex Acrylic Paints and a Matte Top Coat by OPI.

Black and White

When she is not working on Inspired Beauty she is traveling and learning new things, we are never too old to keep learning. It's okay—choose both (in this case, a neon green and a metallic sliver) and paint in vertical (or diagonal!) half-and-half sections. Chrome polish is also metallic and shiny; it gives a mirrored and close-to-liquid finish. This polka-dotted pearl design is a fun yet sophisticated look. The length combined with the French tip base gives this design even more character. We’re loving the growing popularity of these cartoon nails, where the nails look like they came out of a comic book.

To create a similar constellation-inspired look at home, use your favorite milky white jelly polish and an opaque white polish for the nail art. To create the constellations, use the Lights Lacquer Dotting Tool Kit ($13). If you want to give your pretty short nails a stunning mani, white nail polish is a perfect choice. It’s elegant, sleek, and sophisticated, and it looks good on short nails.

Red Line Drawings

Instead of just doing one accent nail, chose one or two on each hand, but make them different from one another, to create a look that is subtle yet captivating. Below are a few of our favorite designs for white short nails with diamonds. From sweet and subtle to style statements your party guests will remember, we’ve got it all (and then some).

Vibrant pinkish-red French tips create a delicious candy dip effect. White floral accents on the ring fingers add a playful touch to this sweet and girlish short nail design. A muted taupe shade is the base for a minimalist graphic pattern of lines and dots. The nail art is a modern take on classic neutrals, adding an artistic touch to the manicure.

This festive blue, yellow, and green mani is almost as good as a freshly-squeezed glass of the good stuff. Tie-dye is slowly emerging as the nail trend of the summer — Kylie Jenner even posted her take on the look a few days ago. BRB, obsessing over this peacock feather design that nails every color. The cherries in this pedicure look like a still life. And the robin's egg blue speckled base color is so unexpected, but works.

Red nail polish adds an extra bright pop of color when painted in this chic negative-space design. Now this manicure is a minimalist's dream with just a dash of opulent maximalism. These sheer short nails would totally fly under the radar if it weren't for those gold-beaded tips. According to Isa, a "punchy, bright neon that's reminiscent of candy" is a must-have polish for short nails. With less space to play with, the shorter length creates a more refined canvas for bold color that could have otherwise been too overwhelming on longer lengths.

These are easy to wear and can basically style with any other color and outfit. There is also one accent nail with gold stripes and rhinestones. It is such a pretty idea and the design is simple and it will suit everyone. To recreate this look, you can use any gold nail tape and flat back rhinestones can be bought online. Another cool and exciting way to dress up short nails is with a minimalist coat of glitter polish.

"Choose five colors that each have something in common (for summer I like neons) and paint each nail a different color," advises Isa. A light polish speckled with black creates a modern, granite-like effect on the nails. This trendy and minimalist design offers a chic urban edge to these short oval nails. A warm, matte terracotta polish adorns a few of the nails, echoing the earthy tones of fall. This solid shade is offset by the neutral marbling on the center nails.

Money is power, so shall we help one another thrive in our careers and businesses. Go for delicate blue floral art in the style of gorgeous Dutch and Chinese pottery for a timeless, sophisticated style. The marble effect adds visual texture while still letting the white polish shine through.

The Sunday Times felt that the show had "lost its sense of humour. The focus on Thirteen and her eventual involvement with Foreman also came under particular criticism. The candidates for House's new diagnostics team are Season 4's primary recurring characters. Each of the four departs the show after elimination, except for Volakis, who appears throughout the season, having started a relationship with Wilson. In the two-part season finale, Volakis attempts to shepherd a drunken House home when Wilson is unavailable. House was among the top 10 shows in the United States from its second through fourth seasons. Distributed to 66 countries, House was the most-watched television program in the world in 2008.

The long-standing NBC drama "E.R." (1994) was renewed for yet another season, but it was still a year before the introduction of "Grey's Anatomy" (2005) on ABC, so viewers were eager to welcome this fresh take on a medical drama. For eight years the show brought in people from around the globe, bringing intrigue and mystery in the form of unusual medical cases in a vein reminiscent of the mysteries solved by Sherlock Holmes. Furthermore, these cases were the catalyst for the discussion of philosophical and ethical issues and decisions, a lot of which were not left with a clear victor, but all of which revealed more and more of the character of each of the different doctors that comprised the team each year. In the end, while the team didn't completely understand (or appreciate) House's methods fully, the show gives a final hurrah as each of the members walks away with something they realize was the right thing to do after all. Although the mantra "Everybody Lies" is proven over and over again, the concept that "people never change, they only come up with better lies" is tested up until the last moments as the characters (and the show) drive off into an adventure left to the imagination. A total of 177 episodes of House were broadcast over eight seasons, with the series finale airing on May 21, 2012.

After observing the show's success, they accepted when Jacobs offered them jobs again the following year. Kal Penn (Lawrence Kutner)

Robert Sean Leonard had received the script for the CBS show Numb3rs, as well as that for House. Leonard thought the Numb3rs script was "kind of cool" and planned to audition for the show. However, he decided that the character he was up for, Charlie Eppes, was in too many scenes; he later observed, "The less I work, the happier I am". He believed that his House audition was not particularly good, but that his lengthy friendship with Singer helped win him the part of Dr. Wilson. Singer had enjoyed Lisa Edelstein's portrayal of a prostitute on The West Wing, and sent her a copy of the pilot script. Edelstein was attracted to the quality of the writing and her character's "snappy dialogue" with House, and was cast as Dr. Lisa Cuddy.

In June 2009, Legacy Interactive announced a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group (UPDPG) to develop a video game based on the series, in which players step into the roles of House's diagnostic team to deal with five unusual medical cases. At the end of the show's run, Steven Tong of Entertainment Weekly wrote that "House had, in its final seasons, become a rather sentimental show". House's original team of diagnosticians consists of Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), a neurologist; Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), an intensivist; and Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), an immunologist.

The series' original opening theme, as heard in the United States, comprises instrumental portions of "Teardrop" by Massive Attack. The piece was used in part because of the distinct tempo which roughly mimics the sound of a beating human heart. An acoustic version of "Teardrop", with guitar and vocals by José González, is heard as background music during the Season 4 finale Wilson's Heart. House was a co-production of Heel and Toe Films, David Shore's Shore Z Productions, and Bryan Singer's Bad Hat Harry Production in association with Universal Network Television for Fox. Attanasio, Jacobs, Shore and Singer, were executive producers of the program for its entirety. No longer a world where an idealized doctor has all the answers or a hospital where gurneys race down the hallways, House's focus is on the pharmacological—and the intellectual demands of being a doctor. The trial-and-error of new medicine skillfully expands the show beyond the format of a classic procedural, and at the show's heart, a brilliant but flawed physician is doling out the prescriptions—a fitting symbol for modern medicine. Spencer believed the program would be similar in style to General Hospital, but changed his mind after reading the scripts. After he was cast, he persuaded the producers to turn the character into an Australian. Patrick Dempsey also auditioned for the part of Chase; he later became known for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy.

Hugh Laurie was credited as an executive producer for the second and third episodes of Season 5.

House is often filmed using the "walk and talk" filming technique, popularized on television by series such as St. Elsewhere, ER, Sports Night, and The West Wing. The technique involves the use of tracking shots, showing two or more characters walking between locations while talking. Jacobs said that the show frequently uses the technique because "when you put a scene on the move, it's a... way of creating an urgency and an intensity". She noted the significance of "the fact that Hugh Laurie spans 6'2" and is taller than everybody else because it certainly makes those walk-and-talks pop". Nancy Franklin of The New Yorker described the show's "cool, Fantastic Voyage–like special effects of patients' innards. I'll bet you didn't know that when your kidneys shut down they sound like bubble wrap popping." "Cameras and special effects travel not only down the throat of one patient," another critic observed, "but up her nose and inside her brain and leg." Los Angeles, CA has 8542 Family Physician results with an average of 30 years of experience and a total of reviews.
